Education And Its Proper Operation
Education is the learning of knowledge, skills, behaviors, values, beliefs, and practices by individuals or groups of people. Educational systems include formal schooling, training, coaching, counseling, and community education. In informal settings such as family and group activities, communities, and schools, education occurs through the processes of teaching, receiving information and producing knowledge or understanding. The primary focus of education is to develop children’s skills and knowledge for their future life in the society.
An education system is directed towards preparing young people to participate and contribute meaningfully in the social and economic world. Education is an inclusive process and does not single out any one student. Rather, it aims at enriching everybody – children, adults, men, women, spiritual leaders, professionals, workers, government and other organizations. Education encourages and facilitates the development of individuals in terms of self-awareness, social awareness, leadership, responsibility, nurturing and respect for other people. It also helps people learn the concepts of respectful cultivation, welcoming truth, listening and influencing.
Social education seeks to build a positive, healthy and progressive society. As education seeks to build a positive, healthy and progressive society, it also aims to build individual freedom. Therefore, social education does not set any particular educational goal or aims but educates people on the different aspects of society, on how to live together as a community and on how to make the best use of their personal and social relationships to contribute to the betterment of society as a whole.
Education is a continuous process and thus, there is no “one” way to do education. Education in Latin means to strive. Therefore, we can say that education is striving for continuous reconstruction of the society, in order to establish and uphold the unity of the society. Through education, children acquire new skills that enrich their lives and enable them to interact better with other people. By virtue of this skill, children acquire new knowledge, which in turn enhances their critical thinking, promotes their creativity and enables them to participate well in the economic activities of the society. Through such a process, the society gives importance to individuality.
John Dewey taught us that education is the search for self-knowledge. This idea has much significance in today’s context when people have to face the problems of modernity. John Dewey believed that the aim of education is not only to know things; but also to know what to know and what not to know. Therefore, he believes that continuous reconstruction of the society is possible through social science theory.
The education aims to provide people with the ability to develop their potential to the fullest. For every person to be able to realize his individual aims, individual knowledge must also be obtained. This can only be done through education. The education enables people to develop their mind in order to think critically. The results of this process are also used as a base in political campaigns.
